The results of the comparison are not so straightforward. I don't want to tell which tuner is better and which one is worse. They both good, and they are good for different scenarios.

Guitar arrangement: Shakespeare, Sonnet 102 http://www.vbguitar.com/acoustic-guitar-tune-i-love/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=acoustic-guitar-tune-i-love http://www.vbguitar.com/acoustic-guitar-tune-i-love/#comments Wed, 30 Jan 2013 05:13:31 +0000 VB http://vbguitar.com/?p=48 Here is my arrangement of the Shakespeare's Sonnet 102, My love is strengthen'd. A composer Mikhael Tariverdiev wrote beauteful music for that sonnet. It was one of the nicest songs performed by trio Meridian in Russia in the 80th. The harmony of this song is relatively easy. It's in C Major with the pretty standard chord progression I-VI-II-V-I. In this arrangement, I used more or less advanced chords only on the bridge at 1:40. It is Gm6add9 with bass on the 4th string (E) with further transition to Gm6/E followed by A7 and Dm7 chords.

Powering up Takamine Cool Tube http://www.vbguitar.com/power-for-takamine-cool-tube/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=power-for-takamine-cool-tube http://www.vbguitar.com/power-for-takamine-cool-tube/#comments Wed, 30 Jan 2013 03:24:03 +0000 VB http://www.vbguitar.com/?p=2041 The easiest way to power up the Takamine Cool Tube CTP2 from the external power source is to use Takamine DI+. It provides several essential DI functions, plus it works as an external power supply for CTP2. It's retail price is around $200. However, I didn't need a DI and thought that $200 is too much for a power supply function. So, I decided to find a less-than-$20 and easy-to-do DIY (Do-It-Yourself) solution.

Takamine TC132SC Review http://www.vbguitar.com/takamine-tc132sc-review/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=takamine-tc132sc-review http://www.vbguitar.com/takamine-tc132sc-review/#comments Wed, 10 Oct 2012 05:15:43 +0000 VB http://www.vbguitar.com/?p=135 This Takamine TC132SC Review explains my impressions and experience from 2+ years of playing this guitar, why I chose it and what I did to fit it into my style. From one side, TC132SC is a classical nylon-string guitar with standard 2″-wide neck and neck and body joint on 12th fret. From the other side, it has all attributes of the modern guitar: cutaway and electronics. But let’s start from the question why I chose TC132SC.

This is an excellent arrangement by Walter Rodrigues Jr., a very interesting jazz guitarist. In this post, I parsed the 3-chord intro - the progression and chords sound very nice. Happy playing!

V-I Chord Progressions with Diminished Chords (dim7) http://www.vbguitar.com/v-i-guitar-chord-progressions/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=v-i-guitar-chord-progressions http://www.vbguitar.com/v-i-guitar-chord-progressions/#comments Mon, 17 Sep 2012 09:19:10 +0000 VB http://www.vbguitar.com/?p=321 In this post I'd like to show a useful V-I guitar chord progression in the keys of C and A. These progressions use very nice diminished chords, A#dim7 in the open position with the root on the fifth string, and movable Gdim7 with the root note on the sixth string. By using these chords and chord progressions you might significantly improve your accompaniment for the songs having V - I transitions and sound more 'jazzy'

It contains interesting jazzy VI-V chord progressions played in keys of C and A. It also shows how 7b5 chords (G#7b5, F7b5 etc.) are used in these progressions.

Tommy Emmanuel – Q&A on Reddit http://www.vbguitar.com/tommy-emmanuel-reddit/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tommy-emmanuel-reddit http://www.vbguitar.com/tommy-emmanuel-reddit/#comments Mon, 09 Jul 2012 04:20:09 +0000 VB http://www.vbguitar.com/?p=1306 Reddit.com had a very interesting Q&A session with Tommy Emmanuel. Here is my favorite advice from Tommy: 'When I arrange a song, the first thing I do is look for the best key to play the song in. Then I look for how I can get as many open notes as possible in the melody. Then I try to find ways of substituting chords under the melody and maybe coming up with a key change to keep it interesting for the listener" Open this blog post to see the link to the full Q&A transcript.
